Care Guide
Unlike fabric mats, stone requires almost no maintenance — and when it does, it takes seconds. Here is everything you need to know.
Four simple steps
01
After use, shake off any loose water and allow the mat to air dry upright. No special treatment needed — the stone handles the rest.
02
Wipe the surface with a damp cloth as needed. For soap residue or food marks, a slightly damp cloth with mild soap works well. Rinse with clean water and air dry.
03
If the mat's absorption feels slower over time, lightly sand the surface with fine-grit sandpaper (200–400 grit). This removes mineral buildup and restores full porosity. No replacement needed.
04
The mat folds flat for easy storage in a drawer or cabinet. Store in a dry location when not in use for extended periods.
Frequently Asked Questions
Indefinitely with proper care. Unlike fabric mats, there are no fibres to break down or degrade. The only maintenance required is occasional light sanding to restore surface porosity.
No. The stone mat should not be submerged in water for extended periods or machine washed. Wipe clean with a damp cloth. This is also why you never need to launder it.
The mat has a smooth underside. However, we recommend placing it on a surface rather than dragging it, as with any stone object. The non-slip base on the bath mat is designed for use on hard floor surfaces.
Yes. Diatomaceous earth is a natural mineral with no chemical additives, synthetic coatings, or off-gassing. The same material is used in food-grade applications.
We recommend indoor use only. Prolonged outdoor exposure and rain saturation can cause the mat to absorb too much moisture and crack over time.
Stone mats can crack if dropped or subjected to high impact. Handle with care as you would any stone object. Minor surface cracks do not typically affect performance.
No. Stone manages moisture at the surface through evaporation, which is what prevents odour from developing. Unlike fabric, there is no material for bacteria or mildew to grow in.
If you notice any odour (uncommon), place the mat in direct sunlight for a few hours. Sunlight is a natural disinfectant and UV exposure will address any surface issues.
